Danny Readline Interview
Danny Redline winner of the Digital Deadline Remix Project hails from south London & has been into the Drum & Bass scene since its its crazy start. From listening to the bleepy styles of Colin Dale around 1990 he became fanatical about the emerging UK Hardcore rave scene & an avid listener of early London pirate radio stations such as Don FM & Touchdown. From jumping around with white gloves he followed the scene through the jungle era into the Drum & Bass scene.
Around 1997 Danny got the chance to play on a pirate radio station, Fresko FM, and never looked back, DJing on many London stations such as Renegade, Outcast, UK Dance, Don FM 2007 and at present, the worldwide Flex FM. Influenced by all styles of D&B from Hospital Records to Renegade Hardware, he had the mad idea to learn the art of producing & has only now felt his production style is up to the level the scene deserves.
With an array of tunes in production, 2010 will be the year Danny Redline makes his mark.
Winning Remix - Digital, Deadline
Dj Name
Danny Redline
When did you first get into dj'ing?
I started messing about with turntables in 1990 aged 15 and have been mixing on & off since then.
Have you had release out before? If so what labels?
No, but all of my fingers crossed!
Who influenced you to start making music ?
It was all of the hardcore rave tunes coming out around 1992 which gave me the incentive to have a go at making tracks on a classic Commodore Amiga!
Did that for a couple of years, then got itchy fingers around 6 years ago as D&B was in full swing. Influenced heavily by Hospital Records.
Youre a winner on the Back 2 You Remix Projects what does this mean to you?
Im gobsmacked! I never really believed I had the talent and had only previously played bits to friends.
Its given me a huge confidence boost & given me the drive to carry on producing tracks as I was thinking of giving up!
What was the best part of creating your remix?
The best part was actually knowing the judges whom many are my heroes were actually going to listen to it.
Ive never found it easy getting tracks listened to by such big names in the D&B scene.
Do you have any studio tips or advice for the future entrants?
I have a habit of not finishing tracks & can take several months making one track. I did this track in one day as I entered near the end of the closing date.
If youre like me, my advice is simply finish your tracks! You will learn more and get better with each one you finish. Also dont panic about
having the most up to date software, I did mine on an a very old version of Cubase and a very sad looking PC!
